11:30: Arrive in Nghia Lo for lunch at a restaurant with specialties of the Thai ethnic group.
13:00: After lunch, begin your first journey to Khau Phat Pass, one of the four great passes in Northern Vietnam. The name, according to the Thai ethnic people, means “Sky Horn,” a place where heaven and earth meet. Stop to enjoy the view and take photos at Khau Phat Pass, a legendary gateway to Yen Bai. It is the longest pass on National Route 32, stretching over 32km with an elevation of 2100m. Enjoy views of Lim Mong and Lim Thai villages during the rice harvest season. You will also have the chance to participate in the “Flying Over Golden Season” paragliding festival held in mid-September annually.
15:30: Continue to “Raspberry Hill” and the terraced fields of La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, which are golden in the harvest season. Here, you will witness a paradise of terraced fields with golden sunlight and a sea of rice, perfect for stunning photographs. This location has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage.
17:00: Arrive in the center of Mu Cang Chai, check into your accommodation, and relax.
Evening: Enjoy dinner at a restaurant, savoring Northwest specialties, and explore Mu Cang Chai town at night. Overnight in Mu Cang Chai.
Day 2 MONG NGUA HILL – TRAM TAU
06:30: After breakfast, head to Mong Ngua Hill in Sang Nhu Village, 2km from Mu Cang Chai town, known for its crescent-shaped terraced fields. During the rice harvest, many visitors are overwhelmed by the “magnificent carpet” woven with vibrant golden rice.
09:30: Travel back to Nghia Lo for lunch at a restaurant. On the way, visit Tu Le Valley, known as the “Poetess of the Northwest Highlands.” You can also make your own delicious green rice cakes to take home as souvenirs.
Tu Le Valley resembles a beautiful mountain girl, with its three-tiered slopes, high cliffs, and wild, mysterious landscapes. The valley is surrounded by three mountain ranges—Khau Phat, Khau Song, and Khau Than—and features a meandering river. The changing seasonal landscapes add unique charm throughout the year.
